Wide-angle prime is lightest AF lens yet for digital medium format cameras.
Hasselblad has announced what it claims is ”the world’s lightest digital medium format autofocus Lens on the market today”, the XCD 4/45P.
The new optic weighs just 320 g and offers a focal length of 45 mm, and is designed to work with the Hasselblad X1D II 50C to provide a medium format setup that’s perfect for travel and street photography.
The arrival of the XCD 4/45P means there are now 10 lenses in the XCD range. The new lens will also be compatible with the older Hasselblad X1D-50C once an upcoming firmware update is available.
The wide-angle view offered by the XCD 4/45P is equivalent to that of a 36 mm lens on a full-frame sensor camera. It has a maximum aperture of f/4, and can be stopped down to a minimum aperture of f/22.
With a leaf shutter offering quieter shooting that some other cameras, the new lens also brings the benefit of flash synchronisation up to 1/2000 sec. and offers a minimum focus distance of 35 mm and a maximum magnification of 1:5.2. It protrudes just 47mmwhen mounted on the camera.
XCD 4 / 45P is constructed from nine elements in seven groups, including two aspherical elements. Hasselblad says it delivers “state-of-the art optical performance within compact dimensions”.
The Hasselblad XCD 4/45P is available to order now, priced at $ 1.099,00 / € 990,00 with shipping expect to begin at the end of January 2020.
